Good day Book Lovers,
I am attracting Short Stories Collections these days it seems. Here is another Short Stories collection by Author Shyamala Shanmugasundaram in her debut Book: Stories In a Satchel.
Shyamala is a good friend, book lover, prolific writer, has penned and published many children stories.Stories In a Satchel is her debut book for older audience.
Simple and good language. Short and crisp stories.
Varied emotions and circumstances covered. Hence we get to meet multiple characters and understand their nuances.
Simple way of highlighting the olden ways or trends which were present a decade ago. Smooth transition from flashback and present situations.
The stories show the Circle of life or how Karma works. Beautifully.
I also liked the background story about the postman and why the letters were never posted. Also how irony works.
Some of the stories I liked were: A Librarian's Love story , Xylo Xacuti, Bully No.1, Chain Mail, Second Chance and many more.
The Author has tried to give a realistic ending to each story but I couldnt stop thinking of those incidents.
Do buy the book, read and leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads. Reviews help the Authors a lot. Thank you in advance.
Bye. Take care.

Story:
Tanna is getting married in a months time. The family of mother and 2 sons is on an agenda to get the house clean. They discover a satchel filled with undelivered letters. 26 of them. The satchel belonged to their deceased father who was a postman. Why were the letters not posted? What happens when Tanna posts the letters? How will it affect the recipients after receiving letters which are a decade late? What I liked:
Strong punch in each story.Simple and good language. Short and crisp stories.

What I wanted more:
Most stories had a dark or gloomy air to them. Many stories had incidents which are crimes gone unnoticed or atrocities which need punishment/justice. I was fuming when reading these stories. The Author has tried to give a realistic ending to each story but I couldnt stop thinking of those incidents.
