Story:
Karan Pratap Singh is almost representing India in Olympic for when during a final match his past comes to crush him and he beats his opponent to pulp in the process. The result is a visibly shaken Karan, 4year ban from Boxing, his Coach Jerry he calls family washes his hands of Karan for good, Karan with no means for livelihood has hard time getting 2 meals in a day, gets into scrapes and lands in Police station and wrong company very often. But his past remains to haunt and make him more desperate.
Sonia is a mysterious but courageous girl who is trying to start a new life in Mumbai and its chaos. Hoping the city's chaos hides the chaos within her. She is too trying to escape from her past which keeps catching up with her.
Karan & Sonia's world/fate collide when she takes up residence as tenant in Karan's house. She needs a roof over her head, he needs the money. Will they remain tenant-landlord for long? Does their past catch up with them? How do they fare after that?

What I liked:
The book says it is getting made into a Bollywood movie.
So read the book with Irfaan Khan's voice as narrator. As you read, you will visualize it scene by scene as if in a movie. The film direction experience is seen in Nidhie's writing. She paints the plot from a Camera's view point.

Deep research and passion for the sport is very relevant everywhere in the book. Boxing as a sport is not sought out for its violence factor, I believe. But Nidhie as she said in our Guest Post: How did you research for the Sport: Boxing?  has trained herself for it too.

Characters are well etched out. Loved the spunk of Sonia specially at the Wine shop. Karan's agony turned into rage is very descriptive. The supporting cast does their job well. Jerry will make you envision a mature, knowledgeable, disciplined, man of Principles as Coach. Madan will make you feel disgusted and then slap you with reality. Hari Singh, Vijay, Pooja, Rane, Inspector Somnath, Imtiaz, Yadav, Sawant,... all played their parts superbly.

The violent parts in the Ring are also pretty graphically descriptive. You will feel the blood rush, temple pounding, roar of the crowds, referee's countdown....

Also the Poems within the pages are worth a mention. They are short, clear and deep. Do read them leisurely.

What I wanted more:
Foxed ! That word was there in almost all chapters :D Even I was foxed at it ;)

The romance scenes should have been more. The boxing and training can get you impatient.

The description of the stance, terms in boxing should have been explained in the first part not in last few chapters.

Do read the book people and go for the Movie when its released. Let us know your feedback of the book soon.
