Her not-so-nice stepmother Gurinder is totally against the idea of Tanuja meeting her Prince Charming which would make her step-sister Harpreet seriously envious. By the way, Harpreet’s main aim in life is to simply make her half-sister miserable.

While Raj’s parents and Tanuja’s father try to arrange a marriage between the two with a help of a mutual friend, the evil stepmother comes up with a plan of her own—to marry her stepdaughter off to Sonu, a good-for-nothing idiot.

 Author Sundari Venkatraman

Sundari Venkatraman is an indie author who has 42 titles (38 books & 4 collections) to her name, all Top 100 Bestsellers on Amazon India, Amazon USA, Amazon UK, Amazon Canada and Amazon Australia in both romance as well as Asian Drama categories. Her latest hot romances have all been on #1 Bestseller slot in Amazon India for over a month.

Even as a kid, Sundari absolutely loved the ‘lived happily ever after’ syndrome as she grew up reading all the fairy tales she could lay her hands on, Phantom comics, Mandrake comics and the like. It was always about good triumphing over evil and a happy end.

Soon, into her teens, Sundari switched her attention from fairy tales to Mills & Boon. While she loved reading both of these, she kept visualising what would have happened if there were similar situations happening in India; to a local hero and heroine. Her imagination took flight and she always lived in a rosy cocoon of romance over the years.

Then came the writing – a true bolt out of the blue! And Sundari Venkatraman has never looked back.

This book is a multi genre one. A small 35 pages book and I read it in one shot. The Doppelganger by Ruchira Khanna is a story which takes place on many planes/dimensions. Metaphysical Romance with a twist.

Book: The Doppelganger by Ruchira Khanna

Story:
Sandra has recently lost her husband. She and her son Liam are still coping with the loss. He was a good husband and a stay-at-home dad. They had a pet dog.  Liam is heartbroken as he has also lost his dog too. Sandra is trying to keep her job and as a single parent has to keep Liam in day care.
Liam has grown quiet and is always in his room with locked doors. He escapes various accidents miraculously. Sandra worries about his lack of friends.
But one day she discovers Liam is onto something mysterious. In the attempt to reach him she meets her husbands look-alike but from another dimension.
Looking at him, Liam and Sandra's heart fill with hope. Can this Doppelganger be the perfect dad for Liam and fill the shoes as Sandra's husband? Can life become simple again? Buy the book to find out.

What I liked:
The language is super simple. The story flows consistently.

The story got me thinking of the various possibilities. It is spiritual + scientific. You will have to read it to believe it.

I dont want to give out spoilers. Leave your brain aside and read till the end. It will leave you gasping in surprise.

I liked that the author showed that life is never easy. The story showed both sides of the situation.

There are few characters in the book. I liked how the innocence of children is used as a motive to carry the story forward. I would have liked if the mother character was a little stronger.

What I wanted more:
The narration is very simple or bland. The story could have been bigger and a little more complex.

Do buy the book, read and review it on Goodreads, Amazon. Thank you in advance.

BLURB

What possibly could an Ex-Major, an Ex-College Professor, a bookstore manager, and a college student have in common? Has fate brought them all together to rekindle some old flames or to start an entirely new one?

The Time Is Now is a short, sweet, unusual, un-cliched, and a mature love story. With just four main characters and one locale, the story is like a leisurely walk around the park on a pleasant summer evening that relaxes you and recharges you at the same time. It is sure to leave you with a mirthful feeling in the end and possibly moist eyes too.

Blurb

Through peace, it’s justice we seek!

The hunter will meet the fate of the hunted

And the mighty will serve the meek!

Twenty years ago, a corrupt President, a greedy industrialist, and a sycophant policeman uprooted the tribal people from their own land and burned their houses. Twenty years later, the Republic of Bodh is in danger from a similar evil troika.

The curse uttered by a frail tribal woman during the carnage twenty years ago has inspired Jwaala, the only female leader in the Senate, to reform the Republic of Bodh.

But the same curse has turned Saaya, once an innocent victim of the massacre, into a relentless killing machine with a mission to prey on the predators.

Even when the Republic spirals into a storm of scandals, the greedy and corrupt President Chaupat is torn between his lust for a dancer and his unrequited passion for his wife Kaamini.
Will Saaya succeed in his mission or will Chaupat thwart his efforts?

Will Jwaala, orphaned in a violent attack, be able to turn the curse for the greedy into a blessing for the poor? Will she succeed to save the Republic from another ensuing bloodshed?

The Curse is a gritty political thriller about people who have lost much to greed but want to transform their nation.
